About National Committee of Physics
Established by the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), the National Committee of Physics (NCP) serves as Egypt's official link to the global physics community through the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and the International Union of Biophysics (IUPAB). The NCP facilitates national participation in international scientific activities, coordinates contributions to the two unions' programs, and reports relevant developments in alignment with ASRT's science and technology policies.
The committee promotes physics research, education, and outreach across Egypt by organizing conferences, symposia, workshops, and training courses at universities and research centers nationwide. It aims to enhance physics teaching at school and higher education levels. The committee also contributes to national and international publications (papers, books, and technical brochures). It prepares annual summaries of IUPAP and IUPAB activities, with recommendations for national research priorities to be considered by ASRT.
In addition, the NCP provides expert scientific and technical advice to research and educational institutions, offering consultancy, targeted studies, and evidence-based guidance to support policy, program, and capacity development across all fields of physics.
The Titans of Physics
Over the centuries, visionary physicists have bravely redefined what is possible. These extraordinary minds have established the foundational principles of physics. From Ibn al-Haytham's contributions to classical optics to Charles Townes' pioneering work on the laser, their collective brilliance outlines the remarkable journey of scientific discovery that defines our modern world.
